How Long is Recovery after BBL?
The first 7 to 10 days after a BBL is the first stage of recovery. A large part of the healing process is done during this stage. Patients have to follow strict guidelines. It helps them to keep te maximum amount of injected fat cells in the area. Patients are advised to sleep on their stomach or their side. It is also forbidden to sit, drive or exercise. Doctors often prescribe painkillers for the soreness that patients may feel. Patients also have to wear a special compression garment in the affected areas in order to minimize swelling and other side effects.
Between weeks 2 to 6 of post-BBL is the second stage of recovery. In most patients, a lot of the pain, swelling, and tenderness disappear during this period. Although the pain is not felt much, it is recommended to continue to avoid sitting. Recommendation aims not to reduce the effects of the operation. During this period, exercise and strenuous physical activities should also be avoided. Strength and pace of walks can be increased, and daily household chores can be done.
After week 6 is the final recovery stage. This is around when “fluffing” happens and patients are well enough to return to exercise. For most patients, pain, swelling, numbness, and aches are almost completely gone. After this stage, the results of the operation become visible. The shape of the buttocks is stabilized. After 3 to 6 months, the patient will reach the desired shape. Feel of the buttocks will become neutral.
