What is Rhinoplasty?

Rhinoplasty can change your nose in a several ways. Surgery can make it bigger or smaller. It can change the shape of the point of your nose. The curvature of your nose can be redesigned. One other change be the reduction of nostrils. Finally, another common touch is the change of the angle between nose and upper lip. Any birth anomalies can also be corrected and a range of breathing problems resolved.

As the experts say, facial analysis is crucial before the nose aesthetics. A special planning, such as face analysis, is made before the aesthetic operation. Then, surgery is performed in accordance with this planning prepared for each person.

Generally, operation takes 2 to 4 hours. It is suggested to stay in the hospital for one night after the operation. Preoperative painkillers and aspirin drugs should be avoided at least 1 week before. The operation will be postponed if you have suffered from colds.

What Should You Consider Before Rhinoplasty?

How is Nose Job (Rhinoplasty) Performed?

There are two main techniques that can be applied in Rhinoplasty: open or closed method. Closed rhinoplasty is more commonly preferred today. Difference between open procedure and closed procedure is that the interventions are done through the nostrils while the incision is made at the tip of the nose during the open procedure. Closed technique includes a help and monitoring with a small camera.

How much Does Rhinoplasty Cost?

Rhinoplasty operation costs an avearage of 5.000-6.000 £ in UK. Prices can go above 8.000 £ according to surgeons’ experience and clinic’s physical attributions. This price may go well above 15.000 $ in U.S and 8.000 € in top clinics of Germany. Rhinoplasty in Turkey is quite price competitive compared to Western Europe. Average rhinoplasty cost in Turkey lies around 2.500 £. Prices can change according to hospital’s facility quality and the experience of the surgeon.

What Should Be Taken into Consideration after Surgery?

  • Holding the head up is crucial while resting or sleeping at home after surgery. At least two pillows should be used while lying after the surgery to prevent bleeding.
  • Micro-bleedings is expectable after the surgery, it needs to be consulted to physician in case of excessive bleeding.
  • Patients can shower following the first 24 hours after surgery but it is more preferable to use barber-like technique to prevent face from water while hair washing.

Frequently Asked Questions about Rhinoplasty

No, there is virtually no pain following surgery. There may be some level of uncomfortableness following the procedure, but there won’t be any pain. Many patients do not require analgesia.

If nose packing is done, they are removed on the 3rd day. Stitches are removed on the 5th day. The cast on the nose is removed or changed on the 7th day. Generally results settle in 12 weeks. There will be edema in face and nose with some bruises for 2 weeks. But of course, it depends on the skin type.

Rhinoplasty is a short surgery. Generally operation takes 1,5-2 hours. It is done under general anesthesia. Patients are required to stay in the hospital for a night and may leave the country 1 week after the surgery.

Generally, patients may get back to work 10 days after the surgery. It is advised not to use googles for at least 2 months after the surgery.

It is generally recommended that the osseuse and musculaire structure of the patient should be completed before proceeding to a child's surgery. The minimum limit generally accepted at the international level is 18 years for men and 16 years for women.

Rhinoplasty can be performed at any time of the year. Some of the patients may face some problems with the hot weather after the surgery but besides the psychological effects of the hot weather, there is no scientific article that shows a correlation between surgery and the summertime. On the other than people who will have their nose jobs during summer, should always consider that they need to consider the advice of their doctor for swimming in both the pool and the sea.
