Prof. Dr. Murat Gönenç is a general surgeon with extensive experience in gastrointestinal, metabolic, and hepatopancreatobiliary surgery. He completed his medical education and General Surgery residency at İstanbul University Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine and gained additional international clinical experience at the Department of Hepatopancreatobiliary Surgery at KU Leuven, Belgium. Over the course of his academic career, he has held various academic positions and was later appointed Professor of Surgery.

Prof. Dr. Gönenç has contributed to numerous international scientific publications, particularly in the field of hepatopancreatobiliary surgery, and has been actively involved in surgical research and education. He is also a member of several national and international professional surgical societies. His clinical practice focuses on bariatric and metabolic surgery, particularly sleeve gastrectomy, providing effective surgical solutions for weight management and obesity-related conditions. His expertise also includes minimally invasive surgery for gastrointestinal, liver, pancreas, and biliary tract diseases. He currently serves patients at Acıbadem Kartal Hospital, providing advanced surgical care and personalized treatment approaches.
